The Nikon D40 A great camera for a great price. I got mine at a local camera shop in Tulsa. Everything you ever want to know about this camera can be found on Ken Rockwell's website. I read his review before I bought mine and he's been right on with everything. I started with the standard 18mm-55mm lens. It's a terrific lens and handled 90% of what I shot. Never being one to settle for not spending money I bought the 55-200mm lens shortly afterward. Then I learned about the 18-200mm lens and couldn't live without it. I bought it. Thank God for an understanding wife. I have not been disappointed at all with this camera. It's done everything I want a camera to do, and more. All of the photos on this site were taken with this camera. Some shots have been retouched in Photoshop CS3, and I'll try to state that when it happens.

Nikon 18-200mm VR Lens This lens is amazing! I bought the lens in mid-May and haven't taken it off the camera since. It literally does everything. The 18mm wide angle has very little distortion at the extreme wide position, and is gorgeous at the extreme zoomed position. It replaces both of my other lenses (which are for sale now) and I don't regret buying it. Plus, I get to leave the lens on all the time so I greatly reduce the risk of getting dust on my sensor.

Manfrotto Tripod and Head This head and tripod are really nice. The tripod is sturdy and fast to set up. The head is amazingly simple. It's like an airplane joystick or the joystick from a video game. It makes all aiming and pointing of the camera a one-handed task. Having the best equipment doesn't make my pictures any better, but it sure does make taking the pictures a lot more fun.
